JEA's Journalist of the Year Scholarships, also called the Sister Rita Jeanne Abicht Scholarships, recognize the nation's top high school student journalists through a two-round competition that begins with state Journalist of the Year contests. The national winner receives $4,000 and up to five finalists each receive $1,200, sent directly to the recipient's college or university account.
The 2025-2026 cycle's national deadline was March 15, 2026, and has closed. Deadline for the upcoming cycle has not been announced yet. Check the official site.
