Privacy policy
Short version: your college research stays on your device. The only personal information we store is the email address you give us, if you choose to.
Your college research
Your saved colleges, categories, notes, preferences, and application tracker live in your browser's local storage on your device. They are not sent to our servers and we cannot see them. Clearing your browser data removes them, which is why the app offers a manual backup export in Settings.
Email signup
If you ask for your College Compass plan by email, we store: your email address, the optional details you choose to share (role, graduation year, intended major, preferred region), a snapshot of the saved colleges you asked us to send you (school names and categories only, never your notes), and basic signup context (page and campaign parameters). We use this only to send you the plan and college-planning updates you agreed to. We never sell your information. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops all marketing email immediately.
Age
College Compass email updates are intended for people 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us an email address, contact us and we will delete it.
Analytics
We measure feature usage with first-party, cookie-free counters (for example, "a signup form was viewed on the homepage"). These events never include your email address, name, or the contents of your college list.
